''cops arent going to come in your house'' tell that to people who its happened to
''and look at your fish and be smart enough to know which ones are legal or not.No they'll just confiscate any that look suspicious (which can be any or all)
But hey good for ya do what ya want just don't whine if and when you get busted

im not worried about being busted lmao, all i have is ****ty 6 dollar fish

just wanted to see what everyone else thinks

We've gotta respect the law. You'd be surprised, even $*%#tty $6 fish can be illegal.

Take, for example, the infamous Tilapias. Those cost pennies, or a couple bucks, and they are illegal. (Clear this up, WHICH ones?) It is in my understanding that buttikoferi are legal. Is it just the Oreochromines?

personally i think alot of fish laws are a joke. except for ones that are either extremely adaptable like carp

Back in the day, baby Channa micropeltes were perfectly obtainable by anybody at $8 a pop.

Illegal doesn't mean costly :)

you can respect the law but iit doesnt mean you have to like it.

That's food for thought. I don't think ANY of us like it when we get pulled over, or paying taxes... 'Course we don't have to like it. I'd definitely love to have another micropeltes.

what happens to u if u were to be caught with snakeheads or asian arowanas in your house and u live in the us. IS it a fine or could you get something more serious?

Its a nice fine of like 25,000 and a couple years in jail.. They take is seriously.and you would be surprise at how many "bust" or undercover work is going on... like a post somehwere before... a friend of my friends was selling an asian arowana to some "guy" in NY .. turns out the "guy" was a cop and he got busted :/.... best not do it and if you do keep it on the dl :/

I used to think like that too. As you move through the years, and gain more to lose, that sort of thinking changes. When I was narc'd on almost 3 years ago, I had over $4K of fish seized (including legal ones that the agents were unsure of), 30K worth of crays destroyed, and received citations amounting to nearly $60K. Thankfully, a lawyer got me out of the fines. But, for a while there, I was looking at mortgaging my hatchery to within an inch of its' life.

Worst of it is, I didn't realize the fish were illegal. I hadn't yet checked the differences in the laws from my move from WA to MS.
