Does this agreement sound fair?

in England you HAVE to stay in education until you're 18 not 16..... i left school at 16 into full time work.....worse choice ever.

i got a scholar and everything but i was being so heavily bullied i couldn't go to that college.

so i worked for a year and then went back to college which i'm loving because it's an adult college so i get to learn faster/better. start my degree next year.

plan is i'll be a qaulified senco/education psycologist by the time i'm 25 lol and £10,000 in debt

Here's what it boils down to. When I was still in high school, I didn't know what I wanted to do, and had no idea if I even wanted to go to college. But I did know that I didn't want to live paycheck to paycheck my entire life like my parents had to. god love them for what they did for us kids. School was too easy for me and I didn't really care about it.

Here is the reality of life....if you want to earn a decent living and not just scrape by, then there is a solid chance you will need to pursue further education. My advice is to suck it up get through the school you have left and then keep going. College level education is a whole different ballgame. It is very challenging and take a lot of personal motivation. You just need to find that motivation in yourself and put it to use. You must realize that no one else will motivate you, you have to do that yourself. don't rely on your parents to bribe/force you to get through school. Is that fair to them when you aree more than capable of doing it without being paid for it. I was never rewarded for good grades. I was taught that if I wanted something, I was the one that had to get it. When you work full time, you do not get bonuses and raise in order to get you to work better, you have to motivate yourself and work hard first, then the bonuses and raises come.

I have worked full-time since I was 16 and have also maintained a full-time schedule at school, both high school and college. Ten years later, I have a great life, great wife and can enjoy my hobbies and dreams without having to worry about school holding me back.

Another example, my best friend....dropped out of high school because he "had better thing to worry about". Now he goes from job to job trying to pay bills. Still lives at home with his parents and is currently having problems finding a job because he is not qualified to do anything. He is constantly trying to get me to find him a job. Lack of motivation is an ugly thing. Unfortunately, I fear that he is at the peak of his earning capability at 26 years old. Sad to say that he has done it to himself.

Just remember, you make your own future. Don't limit yourself now and regret it later. Do what you know you need to do and live with no regrets.

Please please please dont quit school! I did finish high school but I didnt know what to take in college so I never went.. well I can kick myself in the butt every day for that. Its hard to find motivation when you dont know what you want to do but trust me... you NEED an education if you dont want to have some crummy job that you are living paycheck to paycheck.

Think about what you like to do and go from there.. please dont quit!

i think back now and wonder what would have happened if i had went to university instead of leaving school before my A-level exams and joining the RAF. after 7.5years, now i am back doing a management diploma in preparation for leaving the forces, i know now that education will get you far in life, much farther than not having a good one.
think about it logically, your young so an extra year or 2 in education isnt gonna stop you living your life but will eventually enhance it when you are able to get that well paid job.

although a lot of jobs fall true to the saying "its not what you know, its who you know", having a decent education will give you a little bit extra to offer an employer. i can tell you as a manager that i would take a well educated and disciplined young school leaver over someone i know anyday as long as they fit the job.

I ended up getting my GED, not because of lazyness, but because I moved about 4 times my senior year, and I had missed so much school that I did not have the credits to graduate. I tried online classes through IU, and it was just too expensive, I got 3 credits away from graduating and we just couldn't afford it anymore. So I got my GED, and now I'm in college working to better myself, and make a career for myself. I don't regret it, but I wish I could have finished, I was so close..it haunts me every day.

Ahh man..finish highschool...that is pretty much the minimum requirement for any job.
A friend of mine took his sweet as time to finish highschool, he finished when he was 21 years old.. I am almost done my university undergrad!.

In your case, it is just highschool try and get it finished, it never hurts to have it done. You don't necessarily have to go to university after highschool, you can go to college or even be an apprentice. Nothing wrong with doing any of those. Also there are some really cool things offered in college.

But yea, finish your highschool... you will regret it if you dont.

As far as motivation goes, the bass guitar discount sounds like a good idea.

I can continue school, complete my senior years of high school, which sounds stupid right now, because I don't know what I want to be, and what I'll be happy doing, and then at the end of it all I could think well that was a useless two years of my life, where I could have been learning something else (prolly not useless, but you get the idea)

or I can finish after this year, go the blue collar line of work (my preferred) not earn as much as I could if I went white collar (not my preferred) but I'll be still happy (possibly).

I need to start making these decisions now. I don't want to go through my senior years not knowing what I want to do.

if you don't mind me asking, what's your occupation?

The thing about blue collar work is you have to truely enjoy it. That is what you ae going to be doing all the time. You are going to sweat in the summer and freeze in the winter. You are going to get cuts and scratches, you are going to get banged up. You are going to get dirty. It's hard work. If you don't truely like hard work, you are going to be miserable. It's almost a passion, you can't explain it, thats just the way it is.

As for me, I knew what I wanted to do with my life when I was 10. At 13(freshman year), I started tech school. Now, I know that everyone says that tech school is for losers that don't want to go to real high school. That is true in many cases, I went to school with a lot of morons. If you are there to learn, though, it can be an invaluable tool for the future. So, i went there, got a job in the field when I graduated, and have been doing it ever since. I've never set foot in a college. I'm now 27 and make around 60g a year. It's not crazy money, but I ENJOY going to work and it is enough to be comfortable. Think about it. I see my coworkers more than I see my wife. It is important that you enjoy your job. If someone were to offer me twice the money to work at a desk, I would walk away laughing. It's just not me. Some people get too caught up in the money and end up leading unhappy lives. Also, in these hard economical times, I know that with the skills I have, I am going to stay employed. I have friends that put in 4 years of college and now work part time at starbucks. I still have people asking me to quit my job and come work for them. Maybe I am an exception to the rule, I don't know.

You are right, you need to make these decisions now. If you pick the blue collar route, what are you interested in? I mean, anyone can grab a shovel and go to work. What do you like to do? If you go the white collar route, will you be happy? Or are you going to be watching the clock, counting the minutes, for the rest of your life? If you wait much longer, you will find yourself 35 and working at moobys.

Basicly, what I am getting at is do what you like. If you like a climate controlled environment and a comfy office chair, then get a desk job. If you like using your hands, then grab a shovel.:)

sorry man, but youre just young and ignorant right now. try to think about the long term. how will the decisions you make right now affect your life 5, 10, 15yrs down the road? mummy and daddy wont always be around to bail you out.

get your head out of your ass and start thinking like an adult. work hard now, enjoy the benefits later
