Does this look normal (FX5)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
MIne is, too, normal for the dual output. You're talking about your single output. Well of course a single is going to be stronger. That's not rocket science. In my case I've got 2 AC 110's and an FX5 on these 125 g tanks. There's no need for me to go to the hardware store and rig it to a single outlet. Mine's not broke so I'm not going to fix it til it is lol

That doesn't look normal either! Ill have to get a pic of my output! and show how strong the flow is,mine shoots halfway across the tank.On my fx5's all i run for media is Biomax,i have cut the hosing as short as possible and i have also removed the multi-directional output nozzles.. all this makes a big difference in flow/output.So far both pictures don't come anywhere near the output of my fx5's.:)

Im sure it would as it is not split

Thanks for the pics bro, looking at yours and after changing my output hose... it looks just like it (and I dont know y). I cleaned out the FX5 (again) and stuck things in the holes of the canister (at the bottom) and cleaned out the hoses... pretty much did another cleaning:(
When I turned it on, it felt stronger... and I put an air line to it and you can see the flow is pretty good.

Now with the air line, im going to try this and see if it works or not. I dont see why it wouldnt as the air would get stuck at the top of the hose (atleast I think so), but for now it is just for a visual

on the last pic I tried to put the tank cleaner the max the air flows top before going up... I think its working now, what do u think (what was it... maybe the hose or something was clogging the filter and didnt see it come out... dont know??)??

I don't think you know what im saying! I haven't changed my fx5 to a single outlet,it is still twin outlet! i have just removed the movable twin outlet covers, when you remove these you still have twin outlet but have a much stronger flow.I still think your output/flow in your pics look to weak! It's not rocket science :D

These are what i removed! The movable output nozzles. The output/flow is much stronger with out them and i still have twin output.

Can I see a pic of the flow with them off?

There is truly something wrong with that. Check for debris in the hose, or in the media inside.

I have just done a water change the other day,but ill be doing another change in the next few days so when i do, ill take a few pics of the flow rate for you!

West, you've got your outlet that far down in the tank? When you said you were going to switch inlet/outlet I thought you were gonig to switch them at the canister connection lol I guess it shouldn't matter.....I've just never seen an outlet at the bottom.
Puntoturbo, I see what you mean. Ok, I'll try that and see what happens. I don't really want too turbulent of water, there's 2 Oscars in there & I've got a 650 gph powerhead, plus the 2 AC 110's and the FX5. I want to leave them some areas of calm water.
