Dogs at the show... wow did they handle this all wrong

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i just read up on one breeder.. alot of information.. she says they need to be socialized with 10 people a week and 10 dogs a week to be really okay with everyone for all of their puppyhood .. thats alot of socializing.. i don't even go out that often .. when i do a few times a week i take the dobie.. she has been socialized since a puppy.. she is great with the vet.. sitting in vet office .. quiet looking at the other dogs.. but when it comes to anyone coming up to the truck.. she is nasty ..... through the window.. she is good when some one visits.. lays around and loves to be petted .. but let them come up to the door and she sounds vicious...maybe after all this dog would be too much too do with two other dogs already in the picture.. but gosh i love the breed already..

You do not have to take it out.

You live in a farm. Let it play its role and defend you and your's.

What i do is let them out the kennels in the evening. They spend the night patrolling.

Fullfill their mission. There reason to be.

Go get it, girl!

Letting them roam here in Virginia would be a recipe for a lawsuit. My father had a husky when I was young that use to roam the 8 acres at my grandma's until it developed a taste for the cows in a neighboring pasture. Game warden/sheriff (don't remember which) put it down on site. I saw one of those R.O.'s on t.v trying to attack the tires on a moving vehicle. Dragging the 180lb man down the street behind him. If I remember correctly the Stalin regime brought them back from near extinction.

Letting them around the farm at night is no problem, given space and fences.

And yes, you are right about Stalin. Go check natGeo's documentary on Russian Prisons. ' nough said...

i do not let any pets roam.. or even if fenced never remain outside.. not even my horses.. haha.. if it is raining and chilly ..snow etc high wind they are in their warm barn at night.. too many things can happen out there... predators. eating the wrong things that they may find.. i want the dogs in their beds near my bed.,.. the fish in their tanks.. birds covered in their indoor cages.. and chickens in thier coop... or i cannot sleep..........and above all no risks of injury and or death to anything else.

Wait until I tell my wife that my memory isn't as bad as she claims. As long as I'm interested in the subject I'm trying to recall. Lol.

Here's another breed that IMO would be a better family dog. http://www.russiandog.net/moscow-dog.html

I read about these a long time ago in an artical written for the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). One of my frist jobs after I got out of the army was for a magazine where I used to reasearch information about rare breeds for a puplication that ran monthly dog articals. That's where I learned about all the various breeds around the world. (Miguel, I gave away my secret). Dog breeds, there development and history has always been of great interest to me.

It looks like the woman just let up and let the dog attack.

Didn't look like that to me. She tried with all here strength to hold back her dog. But once she fell forward when her dog made a lunge there was no stopping him from reaching the other dog. I think people who can't control these dogs should not own them. I agree the man didn't do anything to keep his dog away once they reached each other he just let his dog do what it wanted. Didn't even try to pull him back. I was even surprised how calm he was as the other dog was biting down on his dogs shoulder.
