Don’t go in the tall grass....

Snakes are another thing entirely. We find slug and egg eaters now and again on our adventures. Once found a mildly-venomous herald snake and my brother even got to witness a Cape cobra passing by..

I've got a cotton mouth that hangs out in one of my pitcher plant bogs. Tons of lizards and frogs too. I love the outdoors man. Nature is awesome! Can't wait for spring :)

That's a nice fat retic, islandguy11 islandguy11 , either a boy or a half-grown girl, the girth suggesting the latter. They're notoriously grumpy with longer teeth than you'd ever expect, so you were wise to leave 'er alone.

My island's pretty
benign vis-a-vis wildlife. We get a slender boa that might max out at 3m - not dangerous... unless you're a parrot, and my garden's full of little grass racers. One of my wife's cats lost a toe to a forty-leg (centipede) over Xmas. The sea, however- that's another story...

I am dying for spring!
We just got our first major storm of the year. Lots of snow made worse because today is windy as heck. Top gusts 50mph.

My husband thought it would be fun to take the truck out and see how deep the snow was. I thought for sure we’d get stuck. That first drift is to my hip

Cabin fever is hitting hard today. I can’t wait for spring to come so I can practice my photography skills outside. Right now with all the snow I can’t seem to find anything interesting to take pictures of. Probably because I’m despising the snow right now?
To cheer myself up a bit I staged some flowers for water drop pictures. I even found an Asian beetle to be my little model.

WOW! Those are REALLY good!

Thank you!
I think I can improve a tad more on the focus, but I am really happy with these? This new manual focus lens is slightly more challenging for me, I just need some more practice to adjust to it. Hopefully working on still subjects will help me get better so I can get better shots of moving ones.

Thank you!

I don't think you need anymore practice lol. Those pics are book or magazine worthy imo.

If you're worried about the placement of your focus with a shallow depth of field with that M lens, consider using a bracketing technique.

Focus at the front of the subject to be photographed, then slowly turn the focus ring while firing shots toward the back of the subject. You'll have a variety of focal points with the same exposure, and if need be, you can combine them for a composite shot.
