I read reports all over the internet about the stealth heaters. In one example, a stealth heater exploded and cracked the aquarium glass and all the water came out.
perhaps this was the problem. not all models of ebo jagers have had the auto shut off feature. I'm not even sure my current old ones do. I think its a relatively new feature for them.
marineland's 400w visitherm heaters are the worst. i have 4 of them and they all broke with in 2-3 months. also, when i send them back for warranty, the ones they send me back don't last either. i sent them back for warranty numerous times. =(
their stealth heaters are better but they might explode. =/
i want to buy their new led lighting system but im kinda worried about their products based on how poor their heaters are made.
I'm not a fan of any of their products except for one.
their aquariums/glass tops and lights are all not as well made as competing Aqueon versions (but only because they took over Perfecto and didn't improve anything - missed opportunity there IMO), their heaters used to be good but now seem to be failing, and their Emperor filters have always taken a back seat to the Hagen Aquaclear design..
their one product line that I do think is excellent however, is their deep dimension line of 3 foot wide tanks. however, I do wonder if Aqueon/Oceanic had similar tanks would the glass be thicker on these too?..
thats why i buy european made when it comes down to aquarium products. i have a 120 gal with large ca/sa cichlids which always bump into the heaters and everything still works brilliantly. heaters are juwel 300w and fluval tronic 150w(both glass reinforced heaters)
