DON'T buy Marineland Stealth Pro heaters!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So the splitting problem is just the ones with the light and red text?

Vanimate...it seems that the majority of the problems are with current model Stealth Pro series. There have been other complaints with the Visi-Therm models as well.

Failures include not coming on, sticking on, cracking and out right exploding.

Older models seem to be fine.

These heaters are not worth it. I have a 200w that works find but I bought a new 250w for a new tank. I put it in and then the top housing just fell off. I didn't notice it until my hand was in the water and I almost pooped.

Whoa!! Mine just stopped working entirely. I contacted marineland to about this. this product as a whole just is just sub-par. Im gonna call them tomorrow!! sorry for your loss

My first one did that, it always diplayed the green light and the water was never warm.. They replaced it, but I think after reading all of this I might be replacing it with the Ebo-Jager, due to risk of explosion!

I use the VisiTherm Stealths. They are all a few years old. I bought the black plastic ones... they don't have an indicator light. I've had several of them die, but they were so cheap that I bought lots of extras and I just change them out. I also use the original VisiTherms in the sump on my large tank.

I'm getting nervous now because I'm buying a few new tanks and I don't know which heaters to get. I used to use only Ebo Jager but the quality on them really took a dive several years ago. I haven't tried one since. Maybe I should try again...

I put a post up about two weeks ago about this issue, Im glad to see someone going to marineland, those heaters look great but are worthless, I hope they wake up and fix the isssue

I don't know if it's occured with anyone but maybe its not necessarily the heater but maybe could have something to do with power surges? I don't have power surge issues at my place and all of my new stealths are working fine. I've not had any issues with them and I've been using them since they changed the style. I've got just shy over 11 tanks with 2-3 heaters is some tanks.

And I have bought these with in the last 2 Months. Including one today.

I mean yeah, it's an issue with the heater but maybe its something like a power surge that causes it to over heat and then crack.

Just an idea that doesn't seem has been though about.

my marineland stealth pro not even a month old doesnt heat my 120 its a 300 watt yes ino not enough for my tank. but i want it as 86 and it says the temperature is good when my thermometers read 81. tried multiple thermometers and all the same.
