Dont drink and fill...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had just got a brand new from a bud 50, thought since it was new there was no way it leaked so i didn't test it, filled it up, bottom cracked open all 50 gallons dropped at once, so i ran to get a towel and realized i still hadn't turned off the hose. Also ad in the factor we had new wood floors put in a week earlier.

I almost always have a couple of heinekens and get busy with something else during a refill, no issue yet. However, I forgot to turn on filters twice, and noticed that 10-16 hours later. Lucky me, no death from the incidents!

Mine was when I did a water change and filled up my tank as you did @2am in the morning or so. Just got back from the club. I passed out while doing the water change and woke up to most of my fish swimming on their side.

Hope that made you feel better.

*knock on wood* Each time I have over filled a tank I caught it right away, so there was minimal damage/clean up.

I used to work at a pet store that had a bunch of tanks, we didnt have a central system so all the tanks were individually filtered. Anyway, I was filling our 90G showtank, walked away for like 2 minutes, I heard some kid say "theres water on the floor" I was like holy S***! sure enough the tank overflowed and there was water everywhere.

In another epic story, we used a 55 gallon trash can for when we drained the tanks, before the idea of running the pump to the bucket we used to push it into the back room to drain it.. yeah well, my manager hit that one little bird seed on the floor and WHOSH! down it goes HOWEVER! Due to ninja like abilities she caught that before it went completely over. Spilling maybe 10 gallons if that. But she has managed to knock over all 55 gallons before. I am lucky I wasnt there for that.

When I clean my tanks I never used to turn the heater off when i cleaned them. my heater in my 75 gallon tank overheated and broke. i had to borrow money from my dad to pay for it.

well this is not too bad, one time after a night out I came home with the idea I had to clean out a 6x2x2 tank filled with PFS, dont remember what happened but I woke up with a massive hangover inside the fish tank, the tank is fine and now houses a crab xD only other issue I have done which is a bit more on the dangerous size was dropped a half full corna into the tank was trying to clip the power filter into its holster! nothing to bad yet thank god! one thing I will add but NEVER get girls to help you lift expensive tanks, if there hands hurt they just let go........!

 I love reading all these stories on here! Thanks for sharing! I never realized how many people get drunk and work on fish tanks LOL!
