That thought never even crossed my mind when you moved them over- I was more concerned with how to get the 100g and sump clean and disease free for its new regime of dats. The best way to look at it(so it doesnt drive you nuts) is you have your 100g back and you can start enjoying fish again- and not worry about anyone sneezing near the tank and it giving the whole tank ich again-

Are loaches really that disease prone? I'm thinking about having a tank with a school of them in the future.

jim (badrev) is right on the money with these lil buggers.. theres a chance i have a week strain of them or something.. but since they came from 4 different sources months apart... i highly doubt it...

i had these lil guys in a 75 for a month or 3.. but then my dats started to figure out that they could eat them so they got moved to a 100 gallon with the plan of it being a loach only tank... a 100gallon clown loach tank would just be amazing.. and when i had 50 or so of them in there and they were all happy and healthy it was amazing..

i had a few others in a Qtank for about 2 weeks and wasnt watching them very well.. i figured no one was dying or acting strange so everything was good.. i tossed them in the 100 (which has good lighting unlike the Qtank) and instantly discovered that they were dusted with ich.. soon as i saw it i raised the temp to 88-90 and started adding salt... after a month of high temps, salt AND a UV the only thing that had changed was that ALL the loaches now had ich... (aka i they had SUPER ICH)... so i started treating with kordon rid ich+ which started to take care of it.. but treating a 100 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump chews through a 16oz bottle pretty quickly... saddly my lfs did not have the rid ich+ so i ended up with a bottle of some other ich med (orange lable i think) that didnt work at all.. the ich came back even worse... then i started treating with the rid ich+ again and it slowly started to work... after 2 months i finally thought it was over and done with.. all signs had cleared up.. i treated with a full dose for another week then half dose for a week.. then stoped and did water changes as normal... a week later the tank was full of ich again and now ive been treating twice a day for another 2 months (keep in mind im treating 140 gallons of water twice a day... they dont exactly give fish meds away$$$$$)
a few days ago after purchasing a 1 gallon bottle of rid ich ($70) i decided to move them to a smaller tank.. the tank was fully cycled (and occupied by 4 more loaches, a guppy and a ghost shrimp).. i added a canister filter and some cycled media.. and was doing twice daily water changes... but well.. like i said.. i got lazy and put one off till the morning and... well.. this is how it went..

heres some more pics of dead clown loaches

out of the 9 that lived only 1 of them is not doing so hot.. the other 3 bounced back... the 4 that were in my feeder tank are now with them... so thats good...

however

this also means that now all (13) of my loaches have super ich.. as well as all of my feeders (guppies, platties, mollies, goldfish)... so i got that goin for me... which is nice...

so back to this

they are a great fish withs lots and lots of personality and amazing quirks (clicking, sleeping on thier backs, ect) and some people have no health issues with them at all... however they are very sensitive to water quality and dont do well with most meds... id start with a few and see how well they do with your personal fish keeping habbits and go from there....

im into these lil buggers for somewhere around $1200.. ive had them for less than a year.. im not even counting the 20-30 that were eaten (before i noticed) or managed to get themselves stuck in the "log-o-death" (also before i noticed)

untill today i had not lost any for health issues

thanks bro.. me too :(

Well then please tell the poor guy what is right, because by now Im pretty sure that hes open for suggestions

10 or so loaches left at $1200 invested...hmmmm....
isnt that $12 a loach?
No, thats $120 for each 2 1/2" loach!
and time to bail on loaches! unless he can grow the remaining 2" and 3" fish to a foot without buying any more meds or any more food and preferably do it this week!
