Flip side is wouldn't you rather hear about our fish eating each other instead of having it happen to you? I've lost a lot of stuff the last 2 weeks..... Kind of makes you sick. :(

3 weeks ago I would have never considered an Odoe to be a feeder.....

Ouch! Yeah you right though, i dont have the guys to add crazy combos together, I wouldn't be able to function at work lol

Somewhat off topic question: Have any of you successfully kept these species with rays?

No, never! I live in an illegal state to own rays...

Thanks guys for the help! Thing about a dorado is I feel if I cant have a 12 foot tank for them It aint very fair as they seem to just want to go and swim! So tank will have to be huge for me to even consider.

I agree DB that ambush Predators are the best and feel most comfortable in a glass cage. I am definitly gonna look into a wolf as I have been hearing very positive things about keeping them.

So all you dorado keepers tell me, how would one or two fair in a large cichlid community setup? I'd love one or two in my 1400 gallon setup but haven't dared knowing what they are capable of.

Seen them as low as $550 and I got mine a few years back for $500. All depends on the vendor and don't pay asking price haggle with them a bit as they have room to go down in price.

Dorado do enjoy swimming space, but like KNH said, they are VERY aware of their surroundings. 12' would be great, but I wouldn't call it necessary. They aren't skiddish or darty, takes a lot to spook them. I have one I'm guessing to be around 14" in a 6x2x2 and he's just fine, never touches the glass.....
