Dovii or Umbee?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Both pairs are in 120 gallon tanks and doing great. I feed them HBH Cichlid pellets, freeze dried Krill, Spectrum pellets and as a treat twice a week frozen prawns and krill. I have many fry from them, if you are considering getting some let me know.
They need clean water to thrive so many water changes are a must!

I prefer Dovii over Umbee, I've never owned Umbee but to be honest I really don't see what the hype is over their appearance.

umbee, wish i could own one myself

UMBEE all the way!! I agree though you can't go wrong with either!
you have a very cool looking umbee. I like this one the most of all the ones I've seen here.

I actually already have a male dovii, I was debating on either keeping him, or selling or trading him and getting something else, I just want to know others opinions (and pics :D) of the 2

Well you should keep your dovii, and forget all the trouble. But you should also get an umbee since youre curious so you have both. Get another tank and an umbee is the answer.

Wow, those are amazing, I think I actually like how most Umbee look more than most dovii, although it is very close

I've owned large Dovii's..... but only owned a large female Umbee (and juvies). I would say Umbee pair/Umbee male since they seem so much harder to come by then Dovii's and seem to hold a higher price tag. But that's just my opinion.

Aside from that, the colors and characteristics are a toss up.

I'd still say Umbee. :grinno:
What were the personalities like in comparison? Where would you get umbees? is it better to try to order a bunch of little ones and wait for them to pair off to see male and female, or to just try to find a pair?

Well it's not really a sure thing or anything, just getting peoples' opinions on the two fishes, I wouldn't be able to keep both however, I don't have the space :/
