Unless that guy has hands like paddles then that fish is around the 19-20" mark. No chance its near 2 foot.

Maybe you should take a trip over here and see for yourself. Mel takes care of his fish, the video does NOT do his fish justice. I have a WC pair that is a little over 2 years old and my male is about 15". I would say Mel's is easily about twice the size of mine. He is MASSIVE. Don't doubt it when he says size, he is almost right on. If you were able to see that 8" male that he referenced in the video, you would of thought that is was only 4", because of how small it is next to the big guy.

Unless you have actually seen his fish with your own eyes, its easy to say BS. But dont, he is spot on.

I wouldn't doubt Mel he is probably the most experienced keeper out of everyone here. He keeps great care of his fish I think from one of his video he mention about water change everyday for that dovii tank and I wouldnt be surprised if it was at least 24"

Exactly I rest mine. The one on this site housed and cared for properly is 24". Of course there are many more 19".......there kept in tanks that are not adequate to get there max size. Not to mention that Dovii is around 8 yrs. old and the average on this site is probably 2 yrs, if that. Also you said in your original post that 24" is closer to max.......I think most have agreed. Not to many saying 30" is common? What was your case?

Post some pics when it is or keep us updated with pics......I know myself along with many others can't get enough Dovii.

will definitely post pics, just cleaned the tank so a lottle cloudy but the male has a wonderful resemblance to his dad. I drive 80 miles to my not so local fish store to get mels stock will be getting istlanum and have a male la ceiba from his fish. id pay admission to see mels fish.

okay I know doviis are probably the biggest baddest central american out there but can we put to rest the whole doviis grow 28+ inches thing cause I just dont think it happens in aquariums and that may be due to tank size or water quality but even the monsters out there maybe are around 22 inches kept in some of the best conditions their owners can offer in monster tanks just wondering if anybody agrees that a good max for doviis would be around 22-24 in ideal conditions not 30 like most sites say

If you dont have the means to house a 30" fish properly, you dont have them to house a 22-24" one properly either, so it doesnt really matter.

just merely stating if they dont grow to 30 in dont say they do. not trying to say you can house an adult male in a smaller tank or anything like that.
