NOTHING !!!!

Dovii will not tolerate ANY tank mates..... if they don't eat them they will surely kill them :headbang2:headbang2

I don't normally get involved in these arguments, but you need to expand your mind beyond how your Dovii behaves. Just because yours is completely intolerant of others it doesn't mean that they all are. It's down to the individual fishes personality, and a stroke of luck for the owner buying one. It's been written by others on here that it's the same for Jaguar cichlids, just because most of them won't tolerate any tank mates doesn't mean they all won't, I've had mine for 7 years now and in that time it's been nothing but a big softy. Even though most of it's life it was just sharing with a pleco that it would fin nip ocasionally, when i tried adding Silver Dollars i was worried it would bully them to death but it didn't. Now it's in a larger tank sharing with many other fish it doesn't bother any of them and is very cosy with my female RD. The same can apply for a Dovii. Most days whe i go to the tank to see how they all are the Jag, RD and Dovii will be looking out the glass next to each other with no sign of aggresion between any of them. Read my previous post on here on page 3 and it says how i managed to pick one out that was well behaved. To repeat myself and others;

JUST BECAUSE YOURS IS SUPER AGGRESIVE, DOESN'T MEAN THEY ALL ARE. IT'S DOWN TO THE PERSONALITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL FISH.

I did read a thread somewhere on MFK from a Dovii keeper who explained how he manged to get his Dovii non-aggresive to Cichlid tank mates, can't remember which thread it was though.

guess I am just 15-0 with mine then :grinno::grinno: I am sure there are probably some ABNORMAL dovii that are less aggressive but if you wanna count the odds GO FOR IT :headbang2. But as is with me I have dovii because of the way they are (aggressive) looks etc. if I wanted a community fish I would buy a whole bunch of fancy gold fish.

Shocker...comments from someone else that doesnt know how to introduce a dovii as a community fish. My guess is that your inexperience has taught you to try and add small fish to an established dovii tank with one over 7 or 8 inches, which wont work. Now drop a 1.5 incher in an already established tank with lots of big cichlids and it works just fine.

You ought to read others experience, listen and learn grasshopper.:screwy: Baltons video proved you wrong right off the bat.

I was just telling on another thread of a 300 gallon I see that has a butti, red devil & dovii all over 12 inches living together fine.

Its pretty simple, with mature, experienced fishkeeping knowledge, to make just about anything work, especially if youre capable of learning from others.

OK i dont ever post much as u can tell but i have had 4 dovii, first one got its bottom jaw ripped out by a jag about a inch bigger than it , same with the second, and all i have gotten are males. the other one is in my 220 right now with a big oscar, couple red devils, 2 myans, a freddy i think, 2 plecos, and a fire mouth. been with them for a year now. my baby is in a 55 with 2 mono peacock bass, a ralphael cat fish, and a syno cat fish he out of all 4 i can see bein a bad fish. other ones all hid and they all got to be atleast 8 inches and one is about 8 inchs now that still alive so my fluke happen 3 times maybe i should play the lotto.

If your really getting a 10X4 tank it can be done-years ago I pulled off the "impossible" I had a male Dovii and male Umbee in the same tank they were around 10 inches. And like stated before depends on proper planning and the attitude of your fish-I went from above statement to getting rid of a Red Devil in a 1032 gallon pond cause he went on a killing spree.

before you open your mouth :screwy: you should compare how many ppl have to keep them solitary vs. how many ppl keep them in community tanks !!! then come talk to me. I have owned more dovii then you have owned fish all together :ROFL::ROFL:
