Looks like my old Dovii....except small.
God I love Dovii's haha.
My little male just spawned with my big female.
Nice Bengal cat, its awesome.

Thanks man! Our Dovii is absolutely fearless and i really would not expect any fish (pound for pound) to hang with him. He nearly killed our female jag (which is twice his size) in one night. Thankfully i was there to separate them before any permanant damage was done. I just accept the fact that no fish will ever be able to live with him.

Thanks for the comment on our bengal too! They are an awesome cat breed!

I have never owned an Umbee, but I have a 9' female Dovii that will try to attack anything that moves. I have a video of her on YOU TUBE trying to attack my 4 year old daughter through the glass. I also have a 3' male Dovii that is serving time in maximum security for the murder of a 3' Channel Cat, and the attempted murder of a 5' TSN Catfish (could be gang related). But still the most aggressive Cichlid that I have ever owned by far was a 9' male Istlantum. He was a fire breathing beast.:FIREdevil
Mmmmm any pics of this 3ft male dovii and the 9ft female dovii? LOL are those sizes supposed to be in inches?

Still think a Umbee would take it.

Agree to disagree.

I'm not speaking for the Dovii as a species i am talking about my individual Dovii. He's a whopping 8" now and getting more aggressive all the time. It's impossible to say an Umbee is more aggressive than a Dovii, because there will always be exceptions to these statements. Remember...all fish are different.

i completely agree. however i started this thread mainly to get info from peoples experiences from owning both these amazing fish in solo tanks. i think everyone would agree that they are as brilliant as each other in their own ways.

I raised a male dovii up to 18" before I sold him and he would not tolerate anything in his tank except a female dovii and she only survived because she had a hiding spot that he could not get into because of his size.

every fish is different so we can debate this until the cichlids come home.

But since i have an umbee in a 180 i like them better :headbang2 Thats him in my av
