Dovii vs Umbee

No, I said slightly bigger, "close but not quite" is what is said exactly. 2.5" fits that I would say. If you want to prove it wrong, find a umbee larger than the largest dovii. Until then, learn how to be wrong from time to time, because I have a feeling it may be quite a common occurrence for you. Just a suggestion
 
Someone should just put a big dovii and Umbee together and let them go at it till it runs. But I do remember reading somewhere that Umbee get past 30"

That would be borderline cruelty and I believe umbee get past 30 given proper conditions and adequate space and time

Yeah I agree. It is like saying pit bull fighting is ok.
Anyway I don't understand why the TL is so important on either sp. they will not reach the same size in the aquarium. Both won't get as big as the wild pics posted. They get to the same size or close to it.

I had my dovii for at least 8 month longer then my umbee when I got my umbee he was 3" the dovii at that time was 7" now the umbee is at least 2" longer and thicker both males.

The Umbee & Dovii are very close is size to really have a hard debate... However, in optimum conditions, the Umbee require a larger tank, because of them being open water swimmers...
