i didnt think about bleach solutioning it. what was the water to bleach ratio you used? i just cut the stump off today and it keeps getting better the more i look at it. i think it's pretty much safe all the way through, there is about an inch by inch square that it pink.

You don't need to bleech AND bake. They both accomplish the same thing. I just prefer baking because I don't like using bleech on anything in my tank. I know it's safe if used properly, I just don't like risk.

Might be alright if you have nothing that eats it.
had a pleco that didnt like a particular peice of wood wich i believe caused his death

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I didn't feel the need to start a new one. I picked up a small stump to put in my tank and it turned out to be cedar. now, it was used as fish structure in a pond and it's been in there and dead for probably 10 years? I'm sure there were plenty of fish in there that would eat some of the wood. just wondering if you're having any problems with yours and if y'all think it will be okay.
