Drip Success!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So u run the Siphon tubin all the way down both sides of the overflow but leave a gap at the bottom of both sides for the siphon to create the suction correct?? i got everything else just that what puzzled me...

I love the vids! Thanks.
Would it be possible to make a larger hole for the water flowing from the fish tank into the PVC pipe? Actually I would make several holes at the water level and a couple above the water level just incase the lower holes get clogged. Seems to me it wouldn't matter how many holes or how large as long as your above the water level and you don't weaken the PVC tube. Then if you get a leaf clogging one hole the water level in the tank will go up until it hits the next "safety" hole.

I'm a master at flooding my fish room and I'm always looking for possible ways to do it again :)

Again the videos were great, very well done. Thank you.

Thank you very much. These were the first videos I've done like this and they were fun to do. I was actually thinking the same thing about drilling multiple holes in the overflows. Tomorrow I'm gonna paint the overflows and I think I'm gonna drill a couple new holes on each overflow just in case. So far this drip is really fun and am loving not having to do my massive water changes anymore and havent flooded my fishroom yet "knock on wood". Eventually i want to do it like yours with the cool manifold with the full adjustability, but for now I'm having a blast figuring this stuff out and taking the vids.

The manifold is nice, you will like it but the drip emitters are genius, I just worried about them clogging then popping off so I went with the adjustable method. For simplicity the drip emitters work fine and I think if they are change out on a regular basis then clogging wont be an issue.

What I really like is the drain system! I was up at KJ47's place (Justin) and he showed me his system, just like yours. It's perfect for grow out tanks. They can be assembled easy and just dropped into 40 breeders until the time comes to drill the tank. Over all I think a drilled tank is the best option but that's not always a choice. I have a glass tripod drilling machine but I still have two grow out tanks not on a drip system :screwy: With this drain contraption I can put off drilling my grow outs almost indefinitely....

I love trickle threads, for me it's the most significant enjoyment upgrade to this hobby that I have come across.

I agree and the emitters are fool proof and easy to install. The drains work great, but was a hard concept to wrap my head around as draining .5 gph seemed too low for it to work but they work like a champ. Drilled an extra hole in all the overflows this morning and i think it has fixed the bubble problem in the siphon tube. Eventually I'll have a system where the tanks are drilled and the drips are all fully adjustable, and I'm gonna agree that a drip sysytem is the best upgrade to the hobby that i have come across also. Everyone with multiple large tanks need one.

awesome set up i would love to do this to my tanks!
love the videos![/Q

Thanks, I highly recommend it.
