Lmao Rally man

To make everything clear.
We as a Aro Community Cannot back up any theory that we have of what causes or cures for Drop eye.

The only real testimony of causes for drop eye is Head trauma. Some guy on this website noticed his aro got DE 30 mins after it jumped out the tank.

The only cure for DE is to do surgery.

Theories about DE is nice, but noone really care about a Theory if there are no sold evidence.

One Day when we have enough money to to house aros, we can do a research.
They all gotta be Silver aros (cheapest). 5 wild caught, 5 farm bred ( if they are any).
8 of them will be in seprate 240 gallon tanks, 1 wild caught in a seprate 500 gallon pond, 1 farmbred in a 500 gallon pond or bigger. All of the water water must be cleaned and filthered in at one source. Water temputure has to be at the same level.

once we can do this we can start to test our theories.

The ones who dont get drop eye, breed them, put them in diffrent variables that their parents lived in. and see if they devoloped drop eye. (testing gentics)
The one that do get drop eye, we breed them, Offspring go into a home that didnt cause drop eye in the parents. ( this will test enviroment reasons for DE)

i know wild arowanas can cure there DE by themself in da wild if its slight DE by looking up and jumping for food
and yes surgery seems to work

Well just experiment if you have an Arowana and its eye is starting to drop put some floating plants in the tank and see if the dropping eye stops dropping. If the eye stops dropping your Arowana probably would thank you for that.

My aros DE stopped growing when I started to lessen his food, but I'm not sure wether fats are the cause of DE or not since many still debate about it until now.... maybe looking inside an aro might solve the case...

You know this, how?
heard from MFK member but its not proven so i might be wrong

Rumor has it that if you feed an aro top water food, it MAY prevent DE from happening. I can see where your going with your post. i just got a black and im feeding it pellets... but its going to be hard when i put him in my tank and they all eat shrimp. by the way, is it safe to feed a baby black aro pellets? not trying to de-rail the thread, just wanted some info. no yolk sack

i throw sinking food and my aros dont get DE

How big are they? You seem to talk about them a lot but I haven't seen you post any pics of your fish.

I think in the wild most silvers with DE would be taken out by natural selection as it would greatly reduce their ability to spot prey on the branches above the river in the flooded forest, which is their main feeding time.

No one really knows what causes it, and IMO anyone who claims to know the cause/cure is full of it. There are all sorts of whack theories out there, but nothing has been proven, its really just a lottery. I saw a silver in a shop today, would been close to 2', no drop eye but it did have a protruding lower jaw.

Maybe instead of having floating plants you'd be better to have a6' high enclosure above the tank with subdued lighting and hanging murals above to simulate tree branches in the flooded forest....

There is one way that 100% preven your arowana from DE. Want to know? Don't own an arowana, then you don't have to worry about DE :D
