I've heard of Dwarf Rectics but they still get pretty big. From all the comments I see, it looks like you need some more experience with reptiles. Start off slow and simple. Don't rush to the big fish. In fishkeeping we already know what happens to that cute Oscar that people thought would be a good fish to have...they over took Florida. So just take it slow and easy. I think there are many snakes out there that are cool and small. California King Snakes are pretty bad ass if you ask me.
