Ear stretching and other body mods

Nope, he still lives at home. I find it a bit inconsiderate and over the top as well when he says stuff like that. "Well don't ****ing look at me." Well don't be a jerk about it.

I'm a teacher with both tats and piercings. I love them, but they stay covered. I find it crazy and stupid when kids get obvious tats and mods that can't be covered. Neck and hand tats will prevent you from getting a great deal of jobs that are out there. Gauged ears can also prevent you from getting hired. Go for the mods, but be smart about it. Don't limit your job options when you are young so that you can "express" youself. It doesn't matter what you plan on doing for a career as situations most often change as life goes on.

I agree here. I feel that you are entitled to do whatever you like to your body. But...don't get upset when you don't get that fancy job that you though you were just perfect for. Yes, it is discrimination, but the reality is that it happens. Employers sometimes expect a certain personal appearance because that is what is considered normal.

Far be it from me to judge what you do to your body, I just caution some of the younger people to keep their futures in mind when doing so. hopefully in the future, it won't matter, but there's a chance that it could come back and haunt you whether you like it or not.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are living on your own and not under their roof and are paying for the tats/body modifying stuff yourself and that if you injure yourself satisfying your need for thrills, you are paying for the hospital bill yourself.

but if you live with them, get an allowance from them and are under their medical coverage then at least be more considerate of what they think.

^This.

I just moved out, and am looking to get my first tat and first piercing(s) in the next couple months or so. I could have come home with the piercings before, but I didn't out of respect for them.

If they don't care, I have no issue with it. However, if you're parents do not want you doing that, why not just wait until you are out of the house?

I had to look up what a snake bite was, I wasn't familiar with that term, didn't realize it was just both sides of the bottom lip. I had one side of my bottom lip done for a while, I had it for 3-4 months and took it out while i was an usher at a wedding, by the next morning the part inside my mouth had already closed up. I would think it best to have either clear or flesh colored jewelry (whichever your work will allow) put in when you get it pierced and just leave that in for a while till its relatively healed (few months) to lessen then chance of infection, then change it out from when you are working or not working.
hmmm, thanks! i might get it done around the time my baby is born. Sort of a celebration( April 4th is the due date! WOOOHOOO). That way ill have a ton of time(about 2 or 3 weeks) to let it heal alittle before i switch to the flesh colored pieces. Thanks for the info.
My Dad hates my ink. Stepmom and Mom love them. Grandparents, wow. lol. I luv showin them off and hearin what they have to say when they dont think i hear them. lol

You clearly are. Everytime anyone says anything about your ears, you have to freak out. "Well just don't look at them. It's my body. I'm so original."

Well it's not much, but I got my septum pierced when I was 16. That hurt like hell, WAY more than my tongue piercing. I didn't stretch the septum and I took out the jewelry after about a year. I won't say how old I am, but that was maaany years ago and the hole is still there.

Also when I was a teen I got a tattoo on the top of my foot. I thought it would hurt a lot on that part of the body, but it didn't. It's an ugly, crap tattoo, though, so I kinda regret it. :screwy:

Oh, and my friend has her tongue split a little. She wants to go back and get it split further. It's disgusting imho!:WHOA:
