First, drain. Then, add your declor (enough for the total tank volume). Refill.

+1 for this.

easiest way ever.

wow, you guys are fancy. pump, pythons and buckets.

i use the garden hose for draining and refilling. :D
1) stick the garden hose in the tank.
2) start water to fill the garden hose with water
3) stop water and unscrew the faucet end
4) water drain out of the tank until desired amount into the yard
5) screw the hose back in and refill. throw in prime and add salt in my sump to health reasons.

Normal garden hoses are treated with chemicals to keep things like algaes and mildews from growing. They're not drinking water safe, so I really wouldn't use them on my tanks.

I know a lot of people that use them, but some people have indicated their hose may have been causing problems in their tanks and switched.
Maybe, maybe not, but I wouldn't use chemically treated hose to fill my tanks.

EXACTLY...

Only difference with me:I start siphon by sucking the output end....My garage is my fishroom...SO, the water outlet is right there...And the water goes straight out onto the street....

A whole tanks worth of those polymers and colloids in the de-chlor scares me.I dont know why or how you guys justify dosing the whole tank volume.Besides, youre not putting the whole tank volume back in,so why dose that much?!?!?!?!!? Insanity!

First, Prime is safe for up to triple volume. Also, I do 90% water changes.

Same here. I buy the Pond Prime & dilute 50/50 with RO water & dose the whole tank, like it says to do on the bottle (1 dropperful is good for aobut 20g). Then I fill the tank with tap water at the right temp. I also do 75-90% WC on all my BW/FW tanks.

Just asking, but what would happen if I didn't use any de chlor? I kow its bad, but how bad?
