if its safe to feed bluegill who have signif***antly more spikes in the fins a african cichlid would be fine. i have got word from pbass owners bluegill are ok

and if i need to i can cut there dorsals off.

Yep, there is a MFK vid on youtube of a pbass feeding where the owner is feeding live bluegills without dorsals (cut off).

there ya go

and they swallow them head first that lays the spines down fish arent stupid and these are wild caughts have a little more natural instinct in 'em.

my 5 inch pbass try to eat a wild sunfish that was 2 inches and it jumped atnd hit the canopy b/c of the spines. i guess that sunfish had some experience already

You guys are giving a good laugh. I would say normally yellow Labs are easy to breed. I say this because 15 years ago I gave them a shot and got nothing. Oddly enough my rusty cichlids, Iodotropheus sprengerae, in that same setup were breeding fine. Isn't it always the way where the ugliest and least commercially valuable species breeds like mad.

venustus are a bad idea for a small tank they get 8-10 inches and love to eat baby fish....
