It resembles my blue gene male when he was younger (pictured above), but yours seams to have the blue spangles in the opposite areas as mine. Interesting fish. Is he always that color and are there any other Jack Dempseys in the tank? It would be interesting to breed it to a blue gene and see the results. I’m sure he will be a stunning adult.

I say it's an EB, just it not tank boss and/or no female about so it's in muted colors.
This is my male I had that is now in YankeeJack YankeeJack 's care.20171203_171913.jpg 20171203_172112.jpg

He is looking more ebjd in these pictures, could also could be showing darker body color to show his “dominance” in the tank?

I had a female that was almost black. She was the dominant female.

He is lacking the body armour of blue imo...maybe he’s a late bloomer?

Regardless I look forward to updates on this fish and he is stunning!!!

Wow, they really look similar! No other Jack Dempseys, and of course I'm sharing the brightest pics we take, not when he's black or dull green... :)

electric blues seem to sell better at the moment and are more popular but I much prefer the normal JD and yours look great.
