That's way too much, you can find EBJD for $9.99 at petsmart, they usually don't last long in their tanks but if you pass by on the day they get their stock you might find some. I found two the other day and almost got em... but I changed my mind.

Some pet shops are incredibly greedy lol

I'd rather pay my LFS, who's been in business for 42 years $35, than pay Petsmart, or Petco $10. They won't even sell fish until they've had them a minimum of 2 weeks, which is fine by me. The tanks all state "Hold All until XX/XX".

At Petco, my Dempsey was sold to me as a Green Terror, Oscars do NOT belong in tanks with Yellow Labs, Firemouths do NOT belong in tanks with Gourami's, my Spotted Pictus will apparently reach more than 10", etc. And the one time I asked an employee a question, my response was "I know how to bag fish." LOL.

Well I'm not recommending that you go to petsmart to learn about the hobby or to get advice... everyone knows their employees and even managers are absolutely clueless. But I'd rather save $25 on a fish that will most likely die in a few weeks.

my guy is 7 inches are hardy..I think personally the gene and the quality of ebjd can be a factor ...If you get puny scrawny weaklings they can die quickly..

I have 2 die on me as well. And then I've had 3 other do just fine.

As some one who's experienced EBJD highs and lows. Id say 50% of it is owner fault and the other half weak inbred genetics. Mix the two and you got a rep for being weak and expensive fish.

The tank had a uv sterilizer because it was outside in miami and the tank would turn green otherwise. I didnt do water changes every week tho and the temp sometimes got pretty hot. Idk if ill get a EBJd until i have somewhere to house them inside.

If i did want to get another EBJD for this female jd i have. Who or where should i get it from to ensure it has strong genes. The one I hade was almost 4"s all the other ones i had died at like 2"
