Second largest outbreak :( I don't see how ebola will ever be contained with infected people too afraid to seek medical attention, making it impossible to identify potential exposures. Apparently a lot of the deaths in this article are of people identified postmortem as having ebola.

Alcohol kills 88,000 Americans each year, every year. Totally preventable, and nobody freaks out over it.

Ebola a 3rd world thing, this is not an easy infection to get, it is not air born and has to be passed by way of bodily fluids and until these folks learn this it is not going to go away for them.

I am surprised we haven't had issues like ebola.

We have a lot of immigrants/refugees come through this county. It's amazing how many, but Fresno County is almost the size of Massachusetts. And it's inexpensive, for California. I live in the suburbs of a small town there, which is less affordable, but very quiet.

But we're not seeing any imported diseases here because they're not sending us poor Africans and Asians. Everyone is healthy, because what they send here is the people who are wealthy enough to escape the mid-east wars legally. Lots of professional people from the region. Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrians, Arabs, Armenians, Sikhs, and Punjabis. Also Asians, many in engineering and medicine.

They are largely the opposite of the Mexicans coming here, who are mainly poor illegal campesinos working the farms, orchards, and ranchos. They are often not healthy, and are living in barns and coops and dilapidated farmhouses across the rural areas.

We don't have the homeless issues that LA and Frisco have. Too far off the beaten path. Those places are going to have widespread disease if things aren't cleaned up.

We have been fighting mosquitoes with West Nile virus, by releasing sterile mosquitoes, etc, and it has been very effective. Only a handful of victims known so far.

No St.Patrick's Day parade here this year.....

Nephew is scrambling to cancel flights to Spain for a soccer event.. Doesn't want to get stuck there unable to come home.

We drove straight home instead of staying at a hotel. Too many what ifs.. Was the bed linen changed? Was the housekeeper sick and coughing? We chose to drive back the next morning. Little mother didn't go to church being almost 91 and in the high risk group.. But what if I pick it up there? I'll bring back to her....

So many considerations
