Hello; even with mounting evidence to the contrary the officials of our government and health care organizations still seem to think they can manage things. Apparently their hopes to launch a massive humanitarian effort in Africa, in part, depend on keeping travel pretty much unaffected. Hubris.

One development that may be of value is a test for Ebola that takes about 15 minutes. The test uses only a drop of blood instead of a larger vial drawn from a vein. The test is starting in trials now according to a report. Let us hope it is accurate enough to make a difference. I wonder if chief medical news correspondents can put up with being quarantined for half an hour?

I haven't been following this thread and may be repeating, but I just skimmed thru an article,.....

scary what the dallas nurse said about they had no protocol, and the ebola guy was sitting for hours in a room with other patients

Spread the love around, or make that spread Ebola around. They have identified the second nurse with Ebola. She flew back to Texas Monday from Cleveland. Now they have to contact all 132 passengers on that Frontier flight. The plane landed at 8:16 pm on Monday. The nurse had a fever on Tuesday. Since she was symptomless on Monday evening, everyone on that flight is safe. So why are they bothering contacting the other passengers since they are all safe......

She tended Duncan in hospital, and was free to fly & travel across the country during the known incubation period!
WTH?? Morons. CDC & Texas officials had claimed that all his contacts were being strictly monitored.

"The nurse, ................., reported a fever on Tuesday and was immediately isolated at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, officials said. Federal health officials said she is ill and will soon be transferred to a biocontainment unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

The CDC said Vinson was not experiencing symptoms at the time of her flight, but is asking all 132 passengers on Frontier Airlines Flight 1143 from Cleveland to Dallas-Fort Worth which landed at 8:16 p.m. Monday to call 1-800-CDC-INFO."
