Im trying to figure out what spiny to get for my 125. The tank is fully planted, with about 3" of a sand/soil mix, has lots of natural leaf litter and rockwork. The main inhabitants of the tank are some Bala Sharks all around 5-7" right now and an 8" kissing gourami, along with a dozen or so rainbowfish and danios. The tank is mainly setup with the sharks in mind and the bottom seems boring now. I had thought about getting a group of clown loaches or redfinned botias but would also like to get a spiny eel, ive had zig zags in the past and always enjoyed them. Do I have the space for a tire track? or should i stick to a smaller species maybe dayi? i thought it might be a cool setup to have a group of peacocks as well but i dont know how that would work. any thoughts?

^ Agreed, a tire track or fire eel would outgrow that tank in no time...

Best to probably stick with smaller species, although not sure if any of your current stock might see them as worms though...

Yeah, you might have to find some fish that are already grown out a bit, or take the time to grow them out yourself. Otherwise, they might get picked off.

okay so no tt or fire. i can live with that. the balas were raised with a group of peacock gobies and danios so im not too worried about anybody getting munched. ive done everything i can to create gentle giants out of them. i might be able to order a group of peacocks through a local shop. any thoughts on the dayi? i saw one at a shop a while ago, seems like a pretty neat species.

Never really lookes into them myself so cant give much advice on them, but i would say anything under around 12"-15" for the spiny eel should be okay?
