Eggs collected from the Congo spotted pufffer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
best to have several to go sauce containers or even pint size containers for cultures.
Absolutely

A culture is ready for harvest when the sides of the container are covered in worms.
Yes I used a plastic knife removed the edge with sand paper.
I would use smell and decreased population as a indicator as when it was time to start a new culture.
Very great advice.

Thanks a lot. To harvest to to a new set up, how much worms should I take form the running container and put into the new container for the new container to be able to start reproducing?

You could take out as many that you want but get them on the sides of the container. Don't get any off of the old oatmeal or whatever you choose to culture them in.

Thank you guys!
New update! Around 30 of the eggs hatched and very tiny tiny puffers are swimming around.
My micro worms culture is not ready yet and I don’t know how long these puffer flies can survive without food. Anyone knows how soon the fries need to be fed as soon as they hatched?

Look for the egg yolk. They won’t start feeding until it is fully absorbed.

Can puffers find food while there is no light? Specifically the fries? I do not have a set up of light in the tank where fries live. I released some micro food for them vinegar eels but I am not sure if they can see it if it is dark. Do you know if fries can detect food through other senses other than eye and be able to catch and eat?
