Is the 13x13 Poret foam the right size to order to cut to fit the 2262? Or do I need to get a 19x19 piece? I'm
Planning to order from Swiss Tropicals.

The 2262 accepts a 12x12 sponge so as long as you can cut well you can use the smaller size.

I ordered Poret foam, 5L ehfimech, 12L pond matrix, and the canister. The 2262 comes with the valves to break the hoses apart right?

Yes, it has the hose valves. They make life easy. FYI. an easy way to prime the filters without drinking lots of water: Put a shop vac on you outlet hose valve and let it fill the thing with water for you. No mess and it is running in under a minute.
I uses a layer of nylon pot scrubbers in the bottom of my 2262's. It is a good bio media, breaks up the poop as it enters and won't clog like the foam.

David, yes, that was my post on C-F.

The 13" x 13" Poret foam is perfect for the 2260/62 filters. I also use the leftover scrap pieces in the filter or other filters.

Pump came in!!!! Just waiting on media, now.

Timely thread. I was about to suggest you toss something like an ac110 with just foam and floss to see if it helped on the back, but you went with the 2262. I am about to start my first large tank a 180g. I am pretty sure I am going to put a 2262 on it, with an fx5, or perhaps just the 2262 and a 110. Never used an eheim before but they have their fanbase, time to find out why..

If I ever need a quick fix for such a problem as suspended particles i use the power head and two litre bottle method with floss and in a hour or so take it out and you will have crystal clear water

I got all the filter media in, and the foam. Here's how I filled the canister from bottom to top....I put the circular rack from Eheim, 5 L of Ehfimech, blue 10 PPI Poret foam, 8 L Pond Matrix in the media bag, green 20 PPI poret foam, and the top circular rack from Eheim. The canister was full to the top, but I got the lid on and screwed it down. I'll test it out Saturday morning cause I have to go outta town in the morning. this all sound about right to you guys?

I'm gonna buy a powerhead Saturday for a little added suction on my gravel vac. this is another good excuse to get a powerhead. I mean....if you're gonna call yourself an aquarist, you gotta have a powerhead laying around somewhere, right?
