I have a 210 I put an fx5 on because I thought it was an awesome filter with a lot of power. Then I was reading more and learned what an eheim pimp was and heard their chants eheim, eheim, eheim. So I heard about the eheim 2080 and decided to get one since it was supposed to be a really awesome filter. I figured that would make me pretty cool to have such an awesome filter and it would keep my aquarium really clean. Then I found out there was a group of eheim snobs that don't even like the 2080. They think the classics are the best and everything else sucks even if they are pretty good filters. Harley K seems to be the leader of that group. Unable to let anyone think their fx5 is good because it's not an eheim. Although if eheim would have made it I'm sure it would've been great in their eyes. That leads me to the eheim 2262. According to Harley K it might just be they greatest filter ever because it's big and powerful and eheim. So in the next couple months I'll be getting an eheim 2262. I just hope when I get it that I'll finally be happy with being super cool because I have an awesome big eheim to filter my aquarium more than it needs. I'll let when I get this eheim how it makes my filter clean and how cool I feel when I look at such a huge filter that makes me feel like Tim Taylor. I can't wait!

First I dont think you should dog any MFK members unless they deserve it. I have read alot of Harley"s write up and they are very helpful. I have a 2260 an\d I know a couple of people that have a 2080. Personally I think the 2260?2262 Is better because It has a better media capacity. THAT is it. I have never experienced anything with eheim that has been crap. They are all Top of the line filters regardless. My oldest Ehiem is a 2260 and It is 20+ years old and the only maintenance I have done to It is a new O-Ring.
Why do you even care what a particular member thinks? There are plenty of experienced MFKers that love their FX5s, and there's some that think canisters are stupid and sumps are the way to go. Just run whatever you like.
Who can really define what "cool" means?
As long as your filter works, both mechanically and biologically, then it has served it's purpose well.
Does brand really matter that much? Benefical bacteria is still benefical bacteria.
If a canister with no brand can house them, its good enough for me.

Eheims might be great, but they're definitely not cool. Big green German filters that have pretty low flow rates and are really reliable? Give me something big and loud and that will rip my hand off if I accidentally get it too close to the intake--that's "cool."

I have 10 2262's on my 106 and 220 and a 400 gallon sump for both..prove i dont.
