Eheim Sucks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
On my 50 I have a 200 watt heater (submersible) by Tetra. It was cheap and has lasted 10 years so far. So I like it better then the jags I had that failed. Also I have never had a bad Aquaclear 110/ it is a great filter for the buck.

I own several eheim heaters ranging from 100w-300w and i haven't had any problems other than some calibration. I also run them in all of my discus tanks with are at 84-86 degrees and have no problem maintaining the temps...still have some 300w old school greens that i run in my againg barrels. When it comes to filters I am a big fan of the classics! I have a 2215 that is 17 yrs old and 2217 that is 15yrs old and the they run flawlessly! On the 2215 i changed the propeller once.

This thread is gonna go back and forth. I've had 4 tetra heaters on smaller tanks and all have failed, I've had marineland and they failed. Guy I work with had 2 fluvals that crapped out within 2 weeks of each other.

I know it's Taboo to say that around here, but I've had it with their products. Everyone speaks so highly of them, but all my experience with them has been one disappointment after another...

That's it, you earned yourself a 3 months ban for badmouthing the best canister brand on planet earth.

Wow that sinks, as for heaters the only heater I will ever use is Fluval E heater never had a problem with them and will never go back to any other heater. Now has for your Eheim Eco Awesome filter I have had one running on a goldfish tank 30g one fish and it ran 2yrs until the water pressure was barley coming out so I clean and the filter is back up and running again. I also own Eheim pro 3 and ran that for one yr before I clean it. Hate to say but some time things are great and sometime you get lemons no matter what. Oh and again nothing wrong with Eheim but all big tanks here are now running FX5's which is now a total of 6 of them!!! Those things rock!!!

i havent tried the heaters but do have a canister we'll have to see how it lasts but my fluval i have had for 10-12 years and still running strong

2262 is twice the price but three times the filter capacity...and very much less maintenance...I find that to be a better value in larger tanks.

^^^Definitely.^^^
Eheim is not the best, but what is. There is professional equipment out there that the average "Joe" doesn't have access to or can afford. As long as a product is being made for the mass market, it will be made as cheap as possible.
There is no profit in durability.
Take coffee filters. Who make more money, the coffee maker manufacturer, or the coffee filter manufacture? These companies make a lot of money on their spare/replacement parts.
Eheim, Fluval...whatever, they both suck in their own way. That is why I have gone the sump route.

My Eheim Jager 150W heater has kept my 55 at exactly the set temp for a couple years now, so I'm happy with it (all my other heaters suck and I'm slowly switching them out for more jagers). The filters are overpriced and I've had mixed experiences with them. I've also had mixed experience with Fluval (305 works fantastic, my FX5 was a complete piece of junk).

Rena xP is where it's at. Simple, reliable, sturdy and inexpensive. People aren't impressed by the flow rates, but they work great.

Edit: also, the jagers have a 3 year guarantee if you kept your proof of purchase.
