Electric Blue Acaras breeding questions

Good to know.... Btw I moved about 30 of them away from their parents into a small planted nano tank I have with just plants in it... We'll see how that goes.

I am not a blue acara keeper, but since this thread concerns their breeding, I think it may be appropriate to point out to those who don't know that the electric blue acara is an artificially bred hybrid of the German blue ram and blue acara.

I always thought they were just like bred blue acaras…sa cichlids generally cannot breed outside of genus, with the exception of festae.

So did I. I was absolutely shocked to find not just one, but 2 sources saying they were hybrids (one of which is even the acara site).

Even more shocking is that you'd never expect them to be hybrids based on color, since one species of cichlid can be bred into many colors with just some linebreeding (as you say).
