Im not really a fan of the blue ones like the one you have(no offense just my preferince) im trying to breed EBJDs that look like the male in this video, this is more how my EBJDs look. Your fish also seems to be growing a lot slower than mine if i read right u said hes 4 inches after 8 months, mine is 4 inches after 4 months. You said your fish probably didnt die from the bloodworms but you tell people dont feed bloodworms i dont understand? I think a lot of bad info is just being repeated, i was told the same thing with my flowerhorns, hatians and cubans all were monsters even though i feed bloodworms and blackworms. I can see no reason to feed beefheart flakes to a fish that would never ever eat red meat in the wild.

Wow 4 inches in 4 months i thought it took a 2 or 3 months to get them to 1 inch after they hatch. Yes many people are against beefheart flakes. Thats just what the breeder of my fish uses.

I agree with sharp tooth on this. I feed my 4 a mix of foods including bloodworms and they are growing fast. My males will pick a fight with larger fish. They are more prone to disease but I don't think they are that much more fragile. Maybe the genes are getting better due to introducing new genes. And to sharptooth mine look like yours and I even have one that started off blue but as it grew has turned into a half an half between normal an blue jack it's very interesting he's almost purple

I guess i stand corrected ive been reading some old post and seems like bloodworms are a popular food for them.
