Electric cat

The lfs that is going under has an electric catfish that I've been eyeing for a little while. But I don't know anything about them. Of course I'm doing my research, but I want to hear from people who have had experience with them

no experience but I think you shouldn't get it unless you have a giant tank or pond. These guys get huge and can give a nasty shock.

Good job. Although it's hard not to buy a fish that you want. But you have to do it for the fish.

On the same note, I feel like I'm about to have to adopt a very large clown knife from the lfs that going out of business. I'm setting up a 125 right now just in case

Yea, I think the knife would be a better option. although they too get big.

He has a pair of them , the bigger one being at least 12 inches long.

You don't need a terribly large tank but they MUST be housed alone. It depends on the species as well. One species tops out at 12" and the other 36". I've never seen one over 14". A 125 gallon tank would actually be sufficient but as I said...must be housed alone.

At this point the only tank I have available is a 55. I already took on a pair of clown knives , a gold severum, a marble goby and a pair of syno cats that filled the 125. If no one buys it before the store has to be closed on the 15th of this month, ill take it to keep it from the freezer but that's it
