I'll say 180g for a single EE. They grow to about 6 feet in captivity or smaller. I have a 3 feet one that is in a 125g right now.

That's far too small for an adult electric eel. I suggest a minimum of 500 gallons.

Electric Eel is actually a knifefish, I'll move this thread to that forum

I never knew that.

For an adult of 7-8 feet maybe. A 3-4 footer (average captive size) will fit quite comfortably in a 180. Any bigger and I'd probably get something wider...3x6 or 7 feet.

That's why I signed up for MFK. I keep finding things that I didn't know.

There was a guy on here that was giving away ( I think) a 6' long EE and it was in a 265. He had a vid and everything I'll try to find it.

Do you have an EE? 500g is good if he got that size of tank that can fit in his house or afford one but I'm talking about the minimum tank size for a fully grown captive EE. They won't grow to its wild caught size in captivity. Even in the wild they rarely pass 7 feet and rarely seen at 9 feet.

Here is my 3 feet long EE in a 125g. Will upgrade to 180g soon.
