Don't make it sound like I am abusing my fish, or like its a secret, but I will tell you that I will wait for a few days until I can put the photos up and write the full article. I was also in a rush and I won't post it here, It will be in the Peacock bass section.
er!

I'm not. I was curious. Don't assume and put words in my mouth.

meh, for aquarium use I still prefer seachem safe as it detoxes ammonia and nitrates. I'm assuming vanish is just sodium thiosulfate, you can get sodium thiosulfate cheaper than vanish also so shop around.

Hello; Did a search on manaus. Results were about town in Brazil at the juncture of two rivers. I do not understand the reference.
I live in Manaus at the Junction of the Rio negro and the Amazon.

I'm under the impression I got a sarcastic response to my last attempt at trying to help the OP, But if we're talking about a pond, the amount of surface area of the water should allow any remaining chlorine to gas-off pretty quickly. Much faster than it would in a tank.
I did not give you a sarcastic answer I would like to know if they use chloramines in the water for manaus, the city where I live.
MuffyWRX, I am sorry I guess I read it too late at night lol.
I didnt actually think you meant those things though.

Its okay. Glad it cleared up easily.

I think I'm actually going to start using seachem safe instead of prime though, on another note. It says it removes chloramine which dry vanish does not.

Hello; Sometimes I forget that forum members can live anywhere in the world. As a boy, I read the accounts of Herbert Axelrod's travels in the Amazon basin. I often dreamed as a boy of doing the same thing, but never made it. Life there may not be as I have pictured it over the years, but you do live at the source of so many great fish. I hope that you got the information you need and the pond works out.

This thread also cleared up some of the questions I had about treating water with chloramine. I knew it was a problem with some water supplies here in the states.

I am happy to have been able to exchange a few keystrokes with you . Keep us posted on your pond.

Thank you Skjl, The pondhas been up for a few months but I did a unussually large waterchange and I had just put in a peacock bass straight from the rio negro and didn't want it to die. passionate4pikes.wordpress.com

Hello; I now see that your location is listed in the box with the personal icons. I overlooked that. To be able to go out near where you live and collect what I consider to be special and exotic fishes seems great. Did I mention that I am available for adoption? Most people are not interested in a grumpy 64 year old.
