Emporer 400

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So we have:

Aquaclear 110

500 gph for 79.99
adjustable flow rate
The filter comes equipped with AquaClear Foam, Activated Carbon and BioMax.

Emperor 400

400 gph for 56.99
2 bio wheels with adjustable spray bar
additional media baskets, comes with biowheels and carbon filter.

Quite frankly I am more conflicted now than before.....lol

I might have to buy both now just to see which is better! Ahh hell!

Buy whichever one is cheaper at the moment. A week ago, you could get an Emperor 400 from Big Als for $38. Now that's done and they have other stuff on sale. You know you're getting a good filter either way. Like I said, I have both. They're both good. They're both quiet. They both have good bio and mechanical filtration as far as HOB's go.

i liked the emperor 400 i had. was quiet an cleaned the water really good. as for the cartridige nonsense, use your brain. take out the cartrdige, wash it off in the utility sink and re-use. i did that with the same cartridges for 9 months.

oh and by the way, the bio wheel worked. it's bull from zeus' a** to say it does'nt without good scientific proof while relying on people's opinions.

had 2 ac110s too. was nice but frickin noisy. one sounded like a damned locomotive while the other was quiet. was'nt all too impressed with its filering capability, but the mass amount of clay cylinders was nice.

the basket had holes above the foam, which allowed water a more un-hindered path out of the filter. water moves where it is easiest (law of nature and civil engineering). so i wondered just how much water did make it through past the foam, which presented the water with flowing through a harder obstacle.

it did keep the water clean though even still and i liked the ability to replace parts, like the motor unit. can't do that w/ the emperor...

i sold both and bought eheim filters. i liked both though.

actually ac110 is 56$

or you can get ac70's for 20$ each... get two and thats more than an ac110 or two emperor 400's for less cash..

two smaller filters is a better choice. you get more filter for less money, and what if one fails for some reason? the other can at least try to keep up until you get the other one fixed/replaced. kinda like a twin engine air plane... I have more than one filter on both my tanks.
