Heater guard and close up on the chamber. Not very thick but perfect for large graowing plants. I didn't want the heater touching either side of the background. I don't know if a heater would damage a backgrond so better safe than sorry.

I have a small HOB on back for mechanical until the new canister gets here. You can see the intake looking on the left towards the top. I am going to scrap or sell the canister I just ordered and get the Eheim 2211 instead. I didn't know Eheim made a small canister at the time I ordered... :( I have to try one just cuz it's a tiny classic, I love the classic's lol.. This will all change this weekend when I plant it. I have a wall mounted T5 that should be here by Saturday. The plants will be 90% of the bio for this tank. The water was still really cloudy from adding the sand. It's white Quickrete media sand. Very fine but a nice bright white color I like. All my other tanks have Lapis Lustre.

P1010336.JPG

I filled the chamber between the two backgrounds with two boxes of substrat PRO as a medium for the plants to take root into. I used biomedia in case I decide I want to add a small pump and make the background the filter, this give me that choice so it's all hidden from view.

I don't know that I've ever read a single thread that has so many creative ideas which combine form and function into such an elegant whole. Keep it up so I can keep figuring out what I can steal and incorporate. No rush mind you, I figure I won't be setting up another 120 until the first of the year, plenty of time to reap what I can of your experience. ;) If I time things right I figure I can rotate my stock through each tank and renovate them one at a time. Then maybe the daemons and ferns will quit whining about their austere home.

x2!

If this thread had been around before I set up my 210... Lots of cool ideas in this thread, for sure!

I am gonna follow this thread..JK, got some creative works happenin in here. Gonna need it while I am doing my background. Congrats on the 125. You gotta be psyched!!

Any new updates Justin?

Yep. FINALLY!!!!!
:headbang2Now I have the holding tank so I can get started on the backgrounds for the 120g and the 300g this week. Longest two weeks ever :nilly: I traded my 220g for this 120g, a pump and cash. I had two weeks to free up my tank, I gave the buyer the same two weeks to free up his tank. I felt bad. All in all it was a really fair deal and he now has a show tank. My 220g was flawless, I just didn't need it anymore after setting up the 300g and now I got a 120g project tank I'm stoked about.

It took two trips to get everything here. I always take out plumbing/bulkhead fittings from any tank I move. If the weight of the tank shifts around during transit, you can scratch, crack, cause a leak etc.. and end up having to buy new plumbing pieces.

P1010306.JPG

I almost got away with the stand and tank in the same trip but it was 1.5" too wide for my suv. The stand sucks but will hold up the tank for now, and will make a workbench or something later.

P1010312.JPG

If you don't have moving dolly's, buy them. Cheap wood and caster wheels save so much effort.

P1010309.JPG

I am putting the tank right where the 220g was. Good temporary spot until I build the new stand..

P1010314.JPG

The guy told me I will never get that algae off the overflow towers and if I am going fresh water, the tank is shot... The algae is on the back wall of the tank so a 3D background will cover anything I can't clean off.

P1010317.JPG

Anyone haven any ideas how to remove this stuff from plastic if possible? I am cutting these towers off the tank but have a use for them elsewhere if I can clean them up.

P1010318.JPG

P1010319.JPG

The front panel is nice and clean and there is only a couple algae spots on the side. That's why I was so pumped on this tank. It's going to take an evening of effort to get clean but get my favorite background goes in this tank. I have the tank on it's back right now so I can clean it easier.

P1010323.JPG

The background on this tank is 60" wide and is sitting on top of the tank right now. The tank is 48" wide so I will be cutting the background down to fit. I would like to leave the tree (the thickest part) in the middle. Or would guys move it to one side so you only have to make one cut? I haven't made up my mind on that one yet.

P1010324.JPG

Part of the 220g trade was I get his pump. It's a GenX PCX55 pump. It a little small for the 300g but will make due until I decide to upgrade.

If it's coraline, try soaking it in a 50/50 vinegar and water for a day and you should be able to get it off fairly easily.

I'd put the tree off center, but I don't much care of precise symmetry. Then again I'm not going to be looking at it everyday either. ;) Go with what makes you and the fish happy.
