Tank looks great bro! I love the double LED's, we have similar taste for sure! I have been slackin on updating this thread latelly, works been kicking my butt.. I did manage to re-pimp my dad's tank recently, LED's (thanks again for the recommendation) Eheim 2211 etc.. I am starting the 120 gallon soon so I'll get some pics/vids up soon.

Thanks. After seeing how bright these are on my bigger tank I'm wondering if the people who are saying these lights are dark are getting bad units.

I have some spare 3d material after this build (I have 2 rock modules I decided not to use). I may need to pimp out either one of my 10g or my son's 20g :headbang2

I can tell you with 99.999% certanty that the "darker" units are just taller tanks, not defective units. Maybe doubling up like you have is the ticket but I have moved my LED units over to other taller tanks and the lighting goes from T5HO'ish to T5 standard at best. None the less yours looks great!

I'd love to see some pics comparing a known good unit on various tank sizes. I just can't believe how dark some of these pics are that I've seen.

When I was considering my options for a 60" width I was very close to buying 2 36" units since the number of lights per inch was higher. I'm glad I didn't.

As it is now I have 16 white LEDs in 48" total or one every 3 inches. The 36" lights have 16 leds, or one at just over every 2 inches. That's a lot more light! Not to mention I would have overlapped the center.

I also think people have very different opinions as to what a "bright" tank is. Some want stadium lighting levels of light in their tank, and these LED's won't give you that. But they will give nice, clean, natural looking lighting. Not necessarily dim lighting, just not the super bright some people expect.

3 hours later... great read. i would love to do something like this in the future, minus the rebuilds;)

lol thank man. Sorry it's so long. Even if my tanks were perfect I will redo them anyway. I enjoy the setup side of the hobby and contributing to the MFK community.

No I haven't. I am pending info from my company and may be moving, so any new tanks or BG's are on hold ATM.

Hope things will work out for you.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one of the new backgrounds but my project won't really start until 6 months or a year from now lol. Just slowly gather items here and there when there is a good deal.

I dont know whats more tired, my eyes or my finger from scrolling through all of this. Way cool bud but a dam lot of work. Hope someday I have a gal that likes this stuff too and can make fun of me for thinking I got the wrong back ground as well.:nutkick:
