Ever feel odd about fish????

So am I the only one that feels odd when people ask if you have pets and I say yes fish. They give me weird looks. Then they say oh a goldfish then I am insulted. Also when I get a bonus at work ppl are like what you going to spend it on. And I blurt out a new filter, fish, pump ect. And I get a look like I am a lepper? Any one else have this? Or when you go to the pet store and you correct the "fish guy"?

like most hobbies, only those into the hobby understand the hobby. You'd look at a train fanatic the same way, if you heard he was going to spend 1000 dollars on a couple buildings for his layout.
 
Its silly to try and educate those not interested in your hobby about your hobby. If you say you have pet fish, and they say "Like goldfish", the proper (not correct mind you) is "yes", "Kinda", or "yeah, but fancier than that".

Only fish keepers understand fish keepers.... rest like Chris said are not on the same vibe... so it aint interesting to them...
 
Having a few hobbies, i'm used to it... people always thought i was nuts at the amount of money i would spend on my hobbies...
