I agree. I don't really regret having any fish, just wish I wasn't a newb when I bought the Koi. But they have a good home now. (I think, hope)

Rallysman - exactly bro. When i turn the lights on my tank at night and marvel at all the marvelous fish inside, i cant help but smile.
ewurm - why the regrets ? not enough room ? I assume its the same with cichlid savage.
gomeza - a tank purchase should never be a cause for regret.
guppy - most of the fish i get rid of , i kind of regret doing so after a month or two.

I bought a striped rapheal once and regreted buying it, so I decided to take him, a paradise fish and a common pleco to the LFS for store credit, on the way there I got hit by a car (literally) and the fish died. Though they weren't rare or monster fish I still wished I had kept them because after they were gone I missed the same things I hated about them. I regret getting rid of other fish as well, I don't regret buying them anymore though.
Whoa! Im just glad its the fish that died ! I know what your saying about missing the same things you regret about them. I hated my paroons for swimming all the time and now that its gone, you miss that constant motion in the tank.
I have gone overboard with a lot of my purchases but the stuff I still have, no regrets no matter what it cost me. The only regrets were when the time wasn't right and they died or they were eaten. I have treated a lot of fish to 3 figure meals! yikes... I sometimes get bored or change my mind about a fish but can't say I regret buying them!
The only fish I regret buying are my common pleco's. I realy like how they look and how big they get get but wow do they make a mess. I'll miss them when they're gone though. How long do pleco's live anyways Ive regretted buying these for three years now.
