I am just wondering if anyone out there has purposefully taken a perfectly healthy fish and killed it because it became a problem child and you could not find a new home for it? (and you did not want to pass the spawn off on anyone else as it would destroy their fish world)

Personally I have not done it yet but have thought about it more than one time.

Just really curious to see if anyone out there has and if they would like to share about it.

For me there were 2 pacu that I had rehomed from a 33g and a 55g, and they were doing fine in the 8 ft 300g until they decided to start eating the tails off of the other fish. So I gave them a time frame while I looked for another home for them and on their last few days of life with me they were rehomed. If another weekend had come and gone with no rehome I was totally going to kill them as there was no way I am going to allow a rehomed 3-6 dollar fish kill off my expensive ones.

So I thought I would post a thread about this just to see what others had to say about it.

No . . . I'm not into killing fish. I understand that fish are simple life forms, but I can't just kill it. How were you going to do it? Lethal injection?

actually as a chef I have 2 ways

very sharp knife or food mallet

or

my very good quat sanitizer which kills a fish instantly

my one fish that gave me thought for this I just picked out of a 230g and dropped it right into my 300g what thoughts I have had about this fish after I have watched it over the past week.

I have often killed healthy problem fish or unwanted cross breeds vicariously by feeding them to larger more aggressive fish

I have it was 2 Oscars. I might do it again, I dread the two that I have now. Their evil. I took them out one at a time threw them in a bag real quick and took it on the porch steps and hit their head area as hard as possible with a mallet type hammer. Blood all over the bag, but at least it was instant.

Hate me, idc. My fish, my rules.

I have this problem also except its with a ropefish and its trying to eat my Ameca splendens
