After reading you post I can understand were you stand and no one can say you haven't done all you can do! If it was me in your situation I would get a tank that would be just big enough for him and let him live his life out in there. That's just what I would do.

Eh, i once cracked a large goldfish over the head with a knife sharpener ( big hard blunt weapon) (the handle ofcorse) Because all i had was a 10 gal with numerous other fish and he just didnt look happy. Matter of fact i knew he was unhappy. I felt bad afterwards becuase he was so damn healthy. Damn wish i had another tank for him at the time =(. He went out the first whack. But i proceeded to give him two more quick blows just to make sure. I even threw him on my digital scales. He weighed 56 grams ! =(

May i also add i dont have my own way to petco. (smack) DAMNIT i would go check him out when ever i could get a friend to take me.... Thats pure unhappyness right there..

I'm actually very surprised how many people on this thread have killed fish that where "problem fish" or just killed fish because they didn't want them anymore.

It was not what I was expecting.... Maybe its because most of the members here are Male and are naturally the less compassionate sex.

I wont lie. I've thought about clubbing a couple of my fish because they JUST wouldn't stop being bullies. Even though I got them because their species was supposed to be compatible with my other fish.

But I would never actually go through with it...

If you do. Then I wont judge you.

I just could never do it.

...

Although, I DID buy a 55 gallon from a guy once which included fish.

But the fish were all ... well... really ugly. He had silver dollars that were all stunted and undersized. He had these weird Tetra things.

I actually did lop off their heads. But I was buying the tank. I didnt want any stupid little stunted fish. He was too lazy to find them homes or give them to the LFS. So when I got there he says "oh, the fish are still in it".
I'm just thinking "great. you moron. Now i guess it's my problem"

I would have fed them to my fish, but who knows what kind of nasties they were carrying. I dont think he had EVER vacuumed the substrate.

So anyways... now that i'm done blabbing.

If you do it. I dont judge.

I have, in a certain situation.

But i couldnt do it with fish that I actually went out and bought. or adopted.

Edit:

I have also put my fish in time out....
When i had Africans, i had a Yellow lab that was harrassing EVERYONE. I took him out, threw him in a bucket for about 30 minutes.
I put him back and he NEVER bullied anyone after that. In fact he became really low-ranking in the pecking order after that. ???

Hmm, i would actually never kill a fish if i had room for it. period. Thats my problem. My broke ass needs more tanks.

I feel like a pile of **** now.

I hate the idea of killing any fish for any other reason then to put it out of pain or having it become food for another fish. Although i say that i have thought about doing it to 2 blue gill, 2 mad tom catfish, and a pumpkin seed because they all were going to infect my other fish with parasites. Also my ropefish, tiger oscar, red tail cat, and shovelnose cat have come into mind because they just get massive and i dont have the room, but i just dont think id ever go thru with killing a fish like that.

This is done.
