Ever move a tank WITH water in it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As far as picking up a tank and moving it, I've never done it with anything bigger than a 29 gallon. But I have slid a 100 gallon around without emptying it, I dont recommend doing it. Drain at least 25-30% first or you will have 25-30% of the water to clean up off the floor....

Forgive me for correcting you but a gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds.

This is true but add the dry weight of the tank and the weight of the substrate you'll be in excess of 750 lbs

If you do decide to do it, please video tape :D

I picked a full ten gallon up once and somehow it ripped the skin off my thumb and I proceeded to dump the entire tank onto my couch. Take my advice, drain it. I have slid tanks across hardwood floors though.

Drain the tank man. You are a monster fish keeper aren't u?? We must have to get rid of our lazy butt to make sure all the fish are in clean water. If we would let lazy get to us. All our monster fish would die. Just listern to everyone here and drain it. Good luck.

when i moved my 65g tall about 10ft, i emptied it about 80%, with no gravel or anything, just a few smaller fish, and i moved it with someone on the other end. there wasn't any problem...

whats the stand made out of?

ive moved my 55 around a bit by putting a 2x4 against the wall and using another one to "pry" the tank/stand around... my stand is real wood.. would never try it with a sawdust/glue stand...

it can be done.. however not really the best idea...
