Ever move a tank WITH water in it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay, I really have no say in this other than a question... When you drain a tank, its obvious you can't keep all the old water, so do you have to restart the nitrogen cycle all over again before you add the fish? Or by some magic does the maybe 5 gallons of water you saved jumpstart the process in the tank with new water and old gravel?

just keep the gravel wet and some water in a bucket and it's just like a big water change.

I've moved a 55 gallon salt tank that was completely full. It belonged to a client on the 9th story of an office building in downtown Orlando. Made me a little nervous, but got it done.

ah man you are asking for trouble if you move your tank with water in it

take it as a time to do a water change keep 40% of the water in buckets with the fish and then take it as a chance to do a good gravel wash in tank water if you use gravel other wise get teh water out and move it with the sand in

silicone is a killer holding substance but all ya wanna do is cause one micro fracture in the glass and future issue for sure. one guy I bought a tank off of moved it with water and a wee bit later the silicone seal on the back of the tank ruptured and boom baby the rupture in the silicone pealed all along the bottom of the tank and bang baby dead frontosa colony. dude got so peeved he sold me his 1500 dollar tank for 250 bucks I spent 150 replacing the one panel with new glass and resiliconed it using the old glass to make a killer eurobrace on the tank and thank you very much for the nice tank

I would not stress a tank by moving it with water in it not worth it

imho
