There is a product called ammo lock that can be used with the api conditioner to lock up the ammonia or you can use a conditioner called Prime by seachem that does it all. Also if you have chloramine and just use chlorine remover , the chloramine will probably kill your biological filter and then you get a ammonis spike from the dead bacteria and no bio filter,

Several members wonder why I store water treated with Prime in a 300-gal bin for at least a day, before using it for water change. Better safe than sorry!![]()

I'm begining to think i did not dose enough water conditioner, and that these older apartments I moved too require that I up the dosage for tap water to be safe.
So I'm pretty sure I killed my fish.
For the mean time, this sale is cancelled until I test out another water change.
I'm sorry to those who will be disappointed, but I thank everyone for their support, especially my friends who took their time to talk me out of this.
Either way, this is what happened last night:

are you referring to Nova Aqua water conditioner? If you're using this then you need to add Kordon Amquel. Nova Aqua removes chlorine but does not remove chloramines which is a product of chlorine in different form. I like Prime cuz one dose removes chlorines and chloramines.Cohazard;3571878; said:should I switch to prime? I'm still using the old school 'stress coat'
If I have super bling bling platinum in the tank I would do what you do, too.jlnguyen74;3572068; said:Definitely!!
