expensive arowanas

MAN!!! why are arowanas sooooo darn expensive?? is it because of shipping or what, i just dont understand.

silvers ($20) and jars ($30) are fairly cheap... then when you get to black aros and asians... thats were the big bucks come in

I've never seen an arow for sale in any LFS apart from Jardini's. Even then, a standard 12" Jar costs anywhere between $170-$250.

mine about 12 cm got blue+yellow line..

All I have seen in Perth LFS are Jardini and Leichardti, theres this one shop that has 2 massive silver aros but there a bit expensive.

arows are so expensive because they are endangered (mostly the asians and black) plus people really demand them. furthermore, arowanas are renowned for bringing 'good luck' for the owners. they can also live up to 50 or more years if kept well, therefore fishkeepers have more than enough reason to jack up the prices. they also do this people people are willing to pay no matter wat.
