expensive arowanas

Silver arowanas at my job sell little 6 inchers for 60 bucks!!

Thats about the same as around here. Jars are more and usually smaller. Awesome avi btw.

i got my aro for 20 bucks 4 or 5 inches. pretty cheap bought 2. now it's almost 12 inches.

Well I guess we can now see what the price of arowana has been over the last 2 plus years

It all depends on freight costs and what the local area is willing to pay. Aros here are CHEAP compared to the U.S.!!!

Here are the prices of Arowanas in Bombay, India:

1. Silver : 15USD@4"-----20USD@6"-----40USD@12"
2. Jardini: 20USD@4"-----40USD@6"
3. Asian: (Chilly Red): 3500USD@12"

I think the Silvers and Jardinis are pretty decently priced.

I just had a wholesaler try to sell me a 5" silver for $20. If it cost me (LFS) $20, with a standard mark up it would be priced too high. I asked him why they cost us so much. He said that because they are not being shipped out of Brazil anymore, most are coming out of Malaysia. The freight charge from Malaysia to the US is what is causing the price to rise.
If the lfs transhipped in a large amount, they could sell them for less. However, as I said in a previous post, it is not cost effective for a lfs to spend that kind of money on arrows, when the typical customer can not properly house them and/or is not interested in them.
