WOW talk about total rip off...silvers are meant to be one of the cheapest though...crazyyyyyy must be cool to work in a fish shop though. im getting a job at a large aquarium enhibit over the holz. any excuse to feed my passion :)

well by me i mean my father. and yes thats exactly where im going to work! its in the malaysian convention centre called aquaria. look it up on the net. its awesome. its worth a visit too. theres an 11 foot pima which always gets the crowd pumping.
 
i guess cause u live in new zealand so they are not very common. in malaysia you only have to pay 60 ringgit which is like 20 aussie dollars for a baby silver. one of the cheapest arows on the market.

They're fairly common over here, see them at most shops on a regular basis. I guess they're that price by the time the importer/wholesaler pays shipping and quarantine and puts his mark up on them, and the lfs puts their mark up on them.

And because in asia this fish are considered to be lucky specially the red one's and gold because red is a lucky chinese color and they say the gold one's are like floating gold bars.
