Expensive Fancy Goldfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the only goldfish i like are feeders and lionhead goldfish

Not really. I only paid about $4 for it, same with all my ranchus.

I paid $150 for my calico ranchu :D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I saw it and thought it was a gorgeous fish!

I also paid a few dollars at Wal-Mart for a lemon lionhead, and it is one of the most beautiful goldfish I have seen :D

High end fancy Goldfish is one serious market. Show quality imports will hurt the wallet big time.

I like fancies, especially Ryukins. But I'm not dedicated enough to spend the big bucks on show quality specimens. But I can understand how many would.

Some of the show goldfish out there will boggle your mind. Iv seen some ryukins that are just AWESOME. Id never in my life pay 3k for a goldfish. I almost did spend $40 on a 7" blue oranda, but I dont have room in my current tank so I couldnt:(. Im fine with my 3$ goldfish!

i see some of these high end super expensive fish and just can't imagine people paying that much for them. i like the comet goldfish and i would probably pay a good price for comet if it was what i was looking for, i guess to each his own but most of the fancy varities i think are ugly.

Some of these fancy goldfish are so prone to diseases and other problems so older larger ones are more rare and valuable. I had a calico shabunkin with a belly about as large and as round as a raquet ball. It spent 50% of its life off and on with swim bladder disease. Unfortunately she died recently :(

i would only spend that much money on a several thousand gallon tank or an asian red im sorry they do look cut but seriosly 3k for a goldfish?

i dont think there is anything special about these goldfish
